Furs Sales

Boone County Fairgrounds 

Columbia, MO.

 


 
The dates for the 2012 fur auctions will be  January 28th and February 11th.  Auctions will be held in Columbia, Missouri at the Boone County Fairgrounds. The auctions will be inside the front of the building. The grounds are located approximately 3 miles north of I-70 on Highway 63 at the Oakland Gravel Road exit.
 
Applications for the auctions will be accepted starting November 1, 2011. Deadline for the applications are January 14th for the February 28th sale and January 28th for the February 11th sale and must be postmarked by that date. Applications are a self addressed stamped envelope that is folded up and sent to the address below. Also include a $10.00 deposit for each lot number made payable to the Missouri Trappers Association. These are used to send your lot numbers back to you. Please make sure that you include the stamp. The rules will be the same as last year. The commission will be 25 cents per pelt, including no sales. No squirrel tail, squirrel hides, deer hides, or turkey feathers will be run through the auction, but may be sold to any buyer you wish in the building. Selling any fur on the grounds, other than the auction is prohibited.

Rules For Participation

 

        

The Boone County Fair grounds is located approximately 3 miles north of 1-70 on Highway 63. The sales will have both green and dry fur.

1. Applications for lot numbers will be accepted starting November 1 to be eligible for the drawing. Application deadlines are:  Jan 14th for Jan. 28th sale, and Jan 28th for Feb. 11th sale. 

2. Applications must specify which sale you wish to attend, and an alternate, if desired. Write date of auction on envelope.

3.There will be ninety (90) lot numbers available for each sale.

4.One (1) trapper per lot number. No more than four (4) trappers per envelope and state if you want consecutive numbers on outside of envelope. PLEASE

5. All applications must include a self-addressed stamped envelope and $10.00 deposit made payable to Missouri Trappers Association. This will be a minimum charge towards your commission fee. If your commission fee doesn't add up to $10.00, you are still required to pay the $10.00. NO REFUNDS.

6. Building opens at 6:30 am.  Auction starts at 7:30 am.  #'s 1-20 must be checked in by 7:00am. No lot lumbers will be sold out of sequence.

7. All fur must be graded, numbered accurately, and tied in bundles to be sold. No one shall have more than five (5) bundles of any one species except for raccoons which may have six (7).

8. Buyers need a letter of credit to buy.

9. Selling outside the building is prohibited. However, those that have lot numbers can sell their deer hides or squirrel tails to whomever they desire as these are not auction items.

10. You must be a MTA member to sell; you may join the day of the sale. HOWEVER, current members will get priority in the drawing Non-members will get the next available number. The charge is 25 cents per pelt, including no-sales. You have the right to refuse any sales. NO REFUNDS.

11. All fur sold shall be owned by a member of the Missouri Trappers Association.

12. Any legal fur from any state may be sold as long as you are a MTA member and have valid licenses from that state.

13.  Dealers or buyers are not eligible for the drawings, but may sell fur at the end of each sale.
